The Skye, the first and only rooftop restaurant in Lahore, opened its doors on Wednesday night to an avalanche of revelers. The restaurant was originally scheduled to open in May but was delayed due to construction delays and final touches. People have been eagerly awaiting the opening ever since and as soon as reservations went on sale, they sold out within hours.
A night out in the heart of LAHORE can be such a refreshing change from the busy streets and traffic of Karachi. The city is bustling with life, with people going about their daily lives without a care in the world. It’s hard to get that in any other city in Pakistan as people are always on edge.
However, once you set foot into LAHORE, all your worries go away and you start to enjoy life to its fullest. If you’re looking for somewhere special to eat at night or are just craving some good food, then The Skye is the place for you! Located on top of one of the most iconic buildings in LAHORE, this rooftop restaurant has some of the best food and views you’ll find anywhere.
Type of cuisine
The restaurant features a diverse and lavish menu with Indian, European, and Middle Eastern cuisine. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, perfect for a night out. The food is high quality and the service impeccable. When you step out onto the open terrace of The Skye, you feel as though you are on top of the world. The sunsets over the scenic views below are incredible, the stars shining brightly in the sky while patrons laugh and enjoy themselves. The smells of all types of international cuisine fill your nose while upbeat music echoes through your ears.
The best part about dining at The Skye is being able to make your own experience by selecting one dish from each category- appetizer, entree, dessert in order to get an overview of what it has to offer.
Dinner at The Skye will cost you approximately PKR 2,000 per person. This includes an appetizer, main course, and dessert. You can enjoy a six-course tasting menu for PKR 3,500 or a nine-course tasting menu for PKR 5,000. The menu changes daily and features seasonal dishes that are prepared with locally sourced produce whenever possible. The kitchen team is led by the head chef, Jamil Khattak, who has been cooking since the age of 12 and has been running his own restaurant in Islamabad since 2009.
As soon as you arrive, they take your coat and make sure it’s dry before hanging it up to dry on the fireplace near the entrance. When it’s time to order the food they escort you to a table while holding your napkin out to protect your clothing from any water droplets on the floor. They also give every table two heated jugs of water (one hot one cold) so that you can adjust your temperature preference throughout the meal. Once seated we were served complimentary cheese biscuits and homemade jams made from berries grown in Kashmir which is just across from here in India.
The ambiance at The Skye is brilliant and you can see the entire city as you dine. There is a small outside area with tables for those who want to enjoy the sun, but it’s not possible to get inside unless you are a guest of the restaurant or have reservations.
There are three levels of dining and the second level has an open-air terrace with a staircase that is lit up from below with LED lights. The third floor has one long table that seats up to 12 people, which would be perfect for corporate events or celebrations like birthdays or anniversaries. It’s also the best place in Lahore to catch the sunrise and sunset! The waitstaff is attentive without being pushy and the food isn’t too expensive considering the quality of ingredients they use. The menu changes seasonally so there’s always something new to try every time I go!
The sky is the limit when you visit The Skye, the highest rooftop restaurant in Pakistan. Enjoy a four-course meal with a dazzling view of the city. Be sure to take in the views of other surrounding cities like Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as well as the mighty Indus River that cuts through it all.
