We’ve been big fans of the 3D printers from AnyCubic since we first tried their AnyCubic Photon Mono X as well as One of their FDM filament printers The AnyCubic Vyper. Since then, we’ve had the opportunity to test our review of the AnyCubic Photon Mono 6K.
The Photon Mono X 6K is AnyCubic’s highest-resolution version of Mono X, a resin printer that uses the technique of masked stereolithography to transform a liquid resin into a solid material. We were thrilled to discover how this high-resolution printer can print extremely detailed images.
We’ve already discussed the risks of printing on resin during the review of AnyCubic Photon Mono X We’ll assume that you’re aware of the process’s cleaning and the learning curve you’ll encounter when printing using stereolithography masking and move on to the functions of this amazing machine.
What’s inside the Box
Similar to Mono X, you get many accessories included with the Mono X 6K, including spatulas and scrapers made of plastic or metal as well as gloves, masks as well as all the components that you require to get the printer working.
Leveling and Assembly
After unpacking the entire set of accessories after which we set up and leveled the printer. It took us about five minutes to put it together and another five minutes to install the screen protector. The screen protector that comes pre-fitted is a great upgrade as it ensures that you’re not likely to scratch or scratch the screen. It is recommended that you watch an instructional video on how to put the screen protector in place as it is difficult, and you’ll only get one chance to try it. It’s the same as the installation of the screen protector on the screen of a smartphone.
We found that the instructions to build did not mention what time to install the protective screen. It’s best to either put it in prior to when you set your bed level or make sure you level it again before putting the screen protector on top of the printer. If you do not you can, the Z position is somewhat low.
Leveling the bed was straightforward–just follow the instructions. Similar to its predecessor, the Mono X, the touch screen guides you through the steps you require to do in order to level the bed fast. These are the steps:
- Utilizing the touch screen Tap the Tools and the next Moving.
- Utilizing the touch display to raise the plate approximately five or six inches higher than the screen using the upward down arrow. It will speed up when you choose an option of a 10-millimeter alternative first.
- Unlock the four screws on the build plate. Secure it to the printer.
- Place the leveling paper on top of the curing screen, then press to activate the home button.
- Simply click on the home icon on the screen, and then allow the printer to cease its movement.
- Press one hand down lightly upon the plate. The build plate should not move even a bit. Utilize another hand to gradually tighten the screws.
- Then, tap the Z=0 button, then click the Enter button to confirm. The bed will now rise slightly to allow your access to resin.
It’s that simple. it now–the bed of the printer is at a level.
Build Volume and Printing Speed
The size of the build volume for Photon Mono X 6K is almost identical to that of the Photon Mono X. According to AnyCubic’s technical specifications the build volume of the 6K model is ever-so-slightly more substantial.
The maximum speed of printing for the 6K printer is 33 percent higher than its predecessor, the Mono X, up to 8 centimeters per hour. Be aware that for printers using resin the time required for the object to print is solely on the time of exposure as well as the size and number of each layer, and not the amount of material cured per layer.
This All-New Textured Bed Is Awesome
The Photon Mono X 6K comes with a bed that’s textured, which is an upgrade over the bed included in the Photon Mono X. The bed with textured surfaces is a great way to ensure that your print grips. Therefore, it is less likely to have adhesion issues.
It is evident the difference in the texture of the beds of Photon Mono X 6K (left) as well as those on the Photon Mono X (right) in the above image.
Accuracy of printing and Resolution
Apart from the bed’s texture and the textured bed, the primary difference between Mono X and the 6K version is the resolution at which printers print. Although the Mono X has a resolution of 3840 x 2400 pixels, The Photon Mono X 6K has a resolution of 5760 3600 pixels. This means that that the AnyCubic Photon Mono X 6K has 125 percent higher quality than its Mono X printer.
Also For every pixel in the Mono X Mono X 6K, the Mono 6K has 2.5 pixels. This is a significant improvement. For instance, take a look at AnyCubic’s review of a print made using The Mono X 6K versus a print produced by a competitor’s printer in the above.
Quality of the Product
The printing quality is as you’d expect from the AnyCubic Photon range. If you compare Mono X Mono X and Mono X 6K side-by-side it’s difficult to discern what’s which. The same buttons are in the same place as well as the same cover. Both have an amazing dual rail system. Nuts and bolts on the machine aren’t changed significantly.
It’s the inclusion of the ultra-high-resolution (6K) display, as well as the speedier printing that makes this printer distinguish itself from other printers.
Curing and Washing Your Print
The method of cleaning and curing your print is the same for the entire range of AllCubic’s Photon printers. You can use either water or alcohol to clean the print, and the curing process is just as captivating as before. The Wash and Cure Machine Plus simplifies these procedures and makes them satisfying, you can clean and cure your print without the aid of the machine. Contrary to what you might think resin prints cure outside or inside a window during cloudy days.
Final Recommendation
If you’re in search of an affordable resin printer that is easy to operate, quick to put together, and unbeatable in terms of print quality, look for it. We loved the first Mono X, but if we had to decide which to buy now the higher resolution, the textured bed and a faster printing speed could make the decision effortless.
It’s currently available for the pre-order price of $599.00. It’s only 100 dollars more expensive than the standard Mono X, which is available for sale at $499, which is a reduction from $759.
You can also include 1 KG of resin as well as an additional Wash and Cure Machine Plus which brings the total amount to $838. We love this Wash and Cure Machine Plus and make the whole process much quicker, simpler, and more enjoyable.
We’re not sure of what the cost will be once the pre-order time has ended however we anticipate that it will rise significantly. For those who are concerned about ordering now it, we’ll state that this printer is ready for production. In addition, once you’ve made your purchase, you’ll have great fun exploring everything it can create with your brand new 3D printer.
